Bended Light headlined with their psychedelic take on jam and roots music. Conceived in 2013, lately the band has been notching up a string of successful shows playing to the strength of their original material. Imagine Phish meets Govt Mule meets Sublime, with a splash of art-rock. Their most recent record, released in January of 2018, is comprised of a live NorVa performance.
Galaxy Dynamite continues it's brand of trippy prog rock after ending its hiatus back in 2016. Now solidly ensconced in the addition of Nate Sacks on guitar, the group continues to push boundaries in a quest for a larger, national audience. Bandleader Michael Mahgerefteh's soulful space opera lyrics are carried to great heights through the combination of his driving beat and bassist E.J. Toudt's dynamic groove.
Down from just outside of Washington DC, FeelFree brought their laconic, breezy brand of reggae to the Taphouse this past Friday as part of an east coast tour supporting their third record released just this past year. The band has existed since 2010, though an early incarnation stretches back with the core members to 2003. With influences running the gamut from SOJA and Citizen Cope to Slightly Stupid or Thievery Corporation, this is a group that has shown steady growth over the past few years and looks ready to break into the larger festival scene.
A good time was had from all reports.
